Zuka Ramblings... of course
Feb. 8th, 2007 09:30 pmSo now I'm making friends with the chick who was changing all my translations. She actually apologized for just going and changing things without asking me so I thought that was nice of her. And now I know why all of her translations have some issues with them. Apparently she is Japanese but living the US and English is her second language. No wonder some of the translations are awkward. Its always easier to translate into your native language. She seems really nice though and we've been emailing each other about Komu and Rome at Dawn and Yuuhi so its all good. She doesn't suck so much now.
Also, Mixi is awesome. It is what Myspace tries to be, but Myspace fails miserably. I've been trying to use my horrible Japanese skills to wedge my way into some of the Zuka communities there. I have noticed though that there is not the elitism or the pretentiousness that comes from the American/English speaking fans in the fandom. They are more willing to share pictures and stories and don't get angry at someone if they aren't buying the DVDs. One girl made a post how she has been renting them and borrowing them from her friends (who does that sound like? XD) and no one has jumped on her like the English speaking fans would. Its just a better atmosphere and I feel more comfortable posting there than I do in Japanese than on the LJ comm or something in English. It's also good practice for me. You can have a blog like on Myspace and I think I might start an all Nihongo blog to continue to practice my Japanese. I need to improve my kanjis.
